I am a Corby based artist dedicated to painting and drawing. Currently much of my work is landscapes. Most of my adult life was spent in Sri Lanka working for the Red Cross. Many of my paintings therefore express my experiences there. Having finished full time employment in 2020 I resettled in the UK and focused on my art work. I have a studio at the Corby Rooftop Arts and many of my paintings are of landscapes in that area.

Born in a suburb of Nottingham in 1958. I Left school in 1976 with an A level in Art and a few other qualifications. I Worked in agricultural on an arable farm near Nottingham. In early 1981 I started a 3-year Voluntary Services Overseas placement in Sri Lanka as an agricultural volunteer. I was based in a remote valley in the foot hills of Sri Lanka - Most of my Sri Lankan paintings are of places and people in that area.
In 1984 I returned to the UK having decided to develop my art skills. I completed a short diploma in art/design and art history at South Notts College before joining Sheffield Psalter Lane Art College to follow a BA in Fine Art. After college I remained in Sheffield, I had a variety of jobs and continued painting. For a year I had a studio at Goole. I contributed to a few group exhibitions.
In early 1991 I returned to Sri Lanka with an aim to do art work. Shortly after arriving I was offered employment as a translator working for the International Red Cross. The work was diverse but my main duties were linked to visiting prisoners held in connection with the conflict there. I worked for about 28 years for the Red Cross in Sri Lanka. On holidays or time away from the Red Cross I tried to continue painting but this was often difficult.
I finished full-time work for the Red Cross in August 2020 and then returned to the UK. I resumed painting and drawing focussing on landscapes surrounding Kettering and made several trips to Worcester to paint.
In 2022 I attended art classes at the Rooftop Arts, Corby and in early 2023 was able to move into one of the Studios there above the art gallert. Since then much of my painting has been based on places in or near Corby. I return to Sri Lanka from time to time and continue painting there. In the coming months my art work will draw on subject matter around Kettering/Corby and Sri Lanka.
I welcome art commissions. If asked for a commission I am happy to consider the ideas of the person requesting the commission about location, subject matter and elements of the painting to be completed.
